A Little Of Our history
Dockside Restaurant & Bar was established in 1991 in this historic wooden building known as Shed 3. The history of our beautiful building dates back to 1887 and is now listed as a heritage site by Wellington City Council. It is one of the oldest examples of a building fundamental to operating Wellington’s wharves. Originally a single-storey warehouse, a second storey was added in the 20th century for Harbour Board tug boat staff. Timber buildings like this one once lined the wharves and jetties between Taranaki Street and Pipitea Wharf. Now, Shed 3 is one of the last remaining few.
“I visited Dockside during my holiday from the UK and was amazed by the quality of the produce and service from the attentive staff. Very warm and sincere welcome and nothing too much trouble. Quality of the food was very high and cooked to perfection. I was so pleased with the steak I got in fact I would say it’s the best steak I have ever eaten. . . .perfection on a plate. Dessert followed and was equally as good. The prices were fine and the position of the restaurant on the quay is superb. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant/bar and it’s excellent value for money.”Mark RFantastic
“We had bad Dinning experience across the road that night before coming to dockside, we arrived at dockside after wow show on busy Saturday night and host offered us table upstairs, our table was ready near bar but we requested manager to get sea view table and he arranged that for us within few minutes to make our experience more enjoyable and our waitress was very friendly and attentive and helped us in recommending dishes, food was awesome especially sharing platter and steak!!!!! Perfectly cooked 10/10, service 10/10, location 10/10.”PaigeAfter WOW
